TEMU Compulsory French Triman Labeling Compliance

Temu compliance requirements are becoming more and more stringent! From the mandatory uploading of the Euro-English Generation to the French-Spanish EPR withholding, and now the French Triman labeling.

Recently, Temu sellers on the French site received a notice from the platform requiring sellers operating on the French market to label their products' packaging with eco-friendly labels as required by law.
From January 2024, the platform will officially implement the acceptance standard of checking the French Triman labels on the product packaging. Products without Triman labels will be rejected by the Temu warehouse.

Therefore, sellers need to go to the back office of their store to check which items must be labeled with the French Triman label and upload the label in time to complete the compliance.

What is a Triman label?
The Triman logo is a French recycling symbol composed of four parts: the Triman logo, the phrase "le tri + facile" (optional), a description of the packaging material, and a description of the recycling destination.

The purpose of the Triman logo is to make it easier for consumers to understand how waste is categorized. In Europe, products and packaging that carry the Triman logo are collected in separate bins, and products that do not carry the Triman logo are disposed of as general waste.

Note: If the seller's products are within the scope of the EPR regulations, EPR compliance is required, otherwise the seller's products may be seized or even destroyed by the Customs and face high fines.

How to get Triman labels?
The French EPR packaging law implements mandatory labeling as part of the French EPR compliance process, according to the regulations:
①Register with the French EPR to obtain a UIN number;
② Upload your registration number to an e-commerce platform such as Temu;
(iii) Printing the Triman logo on products and packaging.

Usually, after the seller has completed the registration under the French Packaging Code, the service provider will provide the corresponding Packaging Code label. Alternatively, sellers can download the required Triman labels directly from the official website or from the back office of the store. The labels are then attached to the packaging of the products according to the category of the goods sold.

C. How to stick/print the Triman logo?
Sellers are required to have the Timan logo on all products destined for France. The Triman logo must be affixed to the packaging of each individually sold product, including the non-steamable wooden crates used for transportation.
Minimum size for Triman logo printing: height not less than 6mm, commonly 10mm. seller can enlarge or reduce the size according to the official vector artwork, which can be in standard/compact format.
It is important to note that if a product hits more than one category at the same time, such as toys and textiles, then more than one Triman label needs to be affixed. Children's toys need to be labeled with a "Packaging Triman Label" and a "Toy Triman Label" on the package.
TEMU requires sellers to take photos and upload them to the platform after labeling the products. Since the platform will be checking incoming products from January 1st, sellers who ship before the end of the month need to act quickly.
