FDA requirements and procedures for food contact materials
During the FDA registration or certification process, even though there is no direct "food contact material" category, the product must comply with FDA regulations to ensure smooth clearance. Specific requirements are listed below:
✅ The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has specific regulations for food contact materials. The determination of how a product is regulated is based primarily on the chemical composition of the product. All ingredients must be scrutinized against the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, current Food Contact Notices, Letters of Approved Use, Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) Notices, Basic Exemption Lists, and FDA enforcement actions (e.g., Import Denials, Import Alerts, Warning Letters, etc.).
✅If the details of the ingredients are not yet known, it is recommended to conduct laboratory tests first and submit the test report and basic product information to a professional auditing organization for examination in accordance with the above mentioned regulations. If the product meets the conditions for direct export after examination, it can be exported safely and in compliance with the customs declaration process.
