Green Circle Speaks Cross-border] French EEE and Battery Law Packaging Classification Labeling Printing Guidelines

January 1, 2022 onwards, Amazon, eBay, speed sell through the major e-commerce platform has been implemented in France EPR new rules, the previous we introduced the EU packaging recycling signs and the use of methods (click on me to understand the situation), today I bring you to focus on the French electrical and electronic equipment EEE and batteries for product recycling classification printing logo.

French DEEE and Battery Law Classification and Labeling Implementation Plan
(EEE, Portable Batteries, Photovoltaic Panels, Lamps, and Small Fire Extinguishers) The real-time plans and requirements for the Household Product Packaging Classification Labeling (HPCL) for these five product categories are consistent, and the Department of Ecological Organizations (DEO) approved the implementation of the HPCL to be implemented beginning by December 15, 2022, with an additional six-month extension to June 15, 2023, for the transition period.

Seven Essentials of Consumer Classification Rule Information
The Consumer Classification Rules information consists of the Triman symbol or the garbage can crossed with an X and the info-tri that gives a detailed description of the classification.
This information applies to any household product placed on the market.
In principle, information on the Consumer Classification Rules must be shown on the product and its packaging, or else on other documents provided with the product (instruction manuals, guarantee documents, etc.).
If the product contains a number of different product categories, these product categories must be detailed individually. For example, for televisions, power cords, and remote controls, the Info-tri should specifically identify each product category.
For EEE, portable batteries, photovoltaic panels and lamps, the common European symbol of a garbage can with an X can be used in place of the Triman logo symbol.
The replacement of the Triman Logo with the X'd garbage can symbol in the message of the French Consumer Classification Code for the French recycling label does not remove the obligation to display the X'd garbage can symbol on the product as required by the European Union. (In other words, for EEE, portable batteries, photovoltaic panels and lamps, the packaging recycling labeling that replaces the Triman Logo with the crossed-out bin symbol still requires the additional printing of the crossed-out bin symbol required by the European Union if the product is required to display the crossed-out bin symbol according to the European Union's regulations).
For EEE devices that use portable batteries or light bulbs, a single Consumer Classification Rule message is sufficient (the device and its battery are recyclable, the lamp and its bulb are recyclable, etc.)

Composition of the French EEE and Battery Product Consumer Classification Rules Labeling Structure
Consumer Classification Rules information consists of a recycling label and an info-tri giving a detailed description of the classification (an illustration containing the classification description).

Signage Recycling Labeling
(1) The Triman logo or garbage can symbol with an X can be used as a recycling symbol for EEE, portable batteries, photovoltaic panels, and lamps.
2. Info-tri information
(2) The letters FR indicate that the Directive is governed by French law and applies only in France.
(3) Product concerned involves the sorting of products.
(4) Sorting instructions. Sorting instructions indicating where to put the discarded products.
(5) Space for additional informations Insert additional information. This information varies by product type
04
Is it better to use a bin with a crossed out X or Triman symbols for the recycling symbols?
For waste with the crossed-out X bin symbol (the European regulatory symbol), like batteries, the law allows you to choose either of two symbols (the crossed-out X bin or the Triman symbol). Consumers favor the crossed-out bin because of its clear identification, and we strongly recommend that you choose the crossed-out garbage can over the Triman (for batteries, EEE, lamps, and photovoltaic panels).
05
Where is the Consumer Classification Rule labeling required to be printed/displayed?
Depending on the space available and the condition of the product, the Consumer Classification Rule information may be displayed on the product, the packaging, the instruction manual or the producer's website.
The printing/display standards for the Consumer Classification Rule logo are as follows:
(1) If the product is not packaged without a description, the information in the Consumer Classification Rule must be displayed on the product's or producer's website. (The following requirements apply to the product itself)
(2) If the product is packaged without an instruction manual, the Consumer Classification Rules information is printed on the product or package if the size of the product or package permits. Otherwise, it will be displayed on the producer's website.
Printing requirements if printing on products:
Or printed on packaging, printing requirements: (note that the area of the packaging below needs to be subtracted from the area of the printing space of the classification label of the packaging method)
(3) If the product is packaged with an instruction manual, in principle, if the size of the product or package permits, the information on the consumer product classification rules will be shown on the product or package or on the product instruction manual.
06
Color Requirements for Consumer Classification Rule Information
The Recycling Label and Info-tri for the General Consumer Classification Rule information require green printing, and other colors may be selected in lieu of green, but the following requirements must be followed:
(1) Single color;
(2) Printed with at least 60% ink
(3) No gradation
(4) Monochrome background
(5) Sufficient contrast between background and logo colors
07
Typographic and Size Requirements for Consumer Classification Rule Information
1. Recycling sign size requirements: Triman Logo or X'd garbage cans must be at least the size of the green dot on the household package, with a minimum height of 7mm for X'd garbage cans and 6mm for Triman Logo bins.
