Taiwan sellers must know! Japan's Amazon electrical products PSE certification full strategy, these 3 key steps allow you to easily comply with the rules!

You would never guess that many Taiwanese cross-border sellers have taken the wrong first step in entering the Japanese electrical appliances market! With the rapid rise of small electrical appliances to "practical, affordable, high quality" as a selling point, Japan's electrical appliances powerhouse market is actually a huge business opportunity. But this seemingly saturated market, but there is a threshold that can not be ignored - PSE certification.

What is PSE certification? Simply put, it is a mandatory safety certification for electrical appliances in Japan, and is required for almost all products connected to an AC power source. In Japan, electrical appliances are categorized into two main types: "Specified Electrical Appliances" (Type A) require the diamond-shaped PSE mark, while "Non-Specified Electrical Appliances" (Type B) use the round-shaped PSE mark.

The most eye-opening part is that all electrical and electronic products sold on Amazon Japan must be PSE certified! No exceptions!

Category A Specified Electrical Appliances includes 116 items, such as AC/DC power supplies, power extension cords, etc., which must be certified by a certification body authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. Category B non-specified electrical appliances include 341 items, including TVs, air conditioners, LED lights, etc., which require manufacturers to notify the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in advance and confirm compliance with the technical standards.

In order to sell on Amazon Japan, you will need to submit the relevant information and documents to the designated mailbox for application. The required documents vary depending on the product type. For example, for Type A products, you need to provide a copy of the business record, a photo of the label, and a certificate of conformity; and for Type B products, you need a copy of the business record, a photo of the label, and so on.

Special Note: Amazon Japan has banned the sale of all cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, including 18650, 14500 and other models.
