Taiwanese sellers who often export food to the U.S. should pay attention to the FDA Registration Guide 2025 Edition!
Can you believe it? Many Taiwanese cross-border e-commerce sellers are unable to enter the US market because they don't understand the FDA registration process! Today, we are going to analyze the FDA food registration process in detail for all Taiwan cross-border exporters to help you easily clear customs and expand your global business.
FDA registration is not optional, but is a requirement of the U.S. Anti-Terrorism Act of 2003: all food companies must register with the FDA and must notify the FDA in advance of any shipment of imported food products. this is a necessary step to ensure that your products can legally enter the U.S. market.
Do you know how easy it is to register? First, visit the FDA website and click on "New Account" to create a new account; if you already have an account, you can log in directly. Next, select the "Food Facility Registration" option under "Food and Drug Facility Registration". You will be prompted to set an 8-32 digit password that contains case letters, numbers and special symbols. This password, along with the system-assigned ID number, will be your unique key to manage your registration information in the future!
What may be holding you back from accomplishing what you want to do now is not knowing what information you need to prepare. In fact, the information you need to prepare includes: company name, address, phone number, emergency contact, U.S. agent information, and many other things. As a reminder, there is a 30-minute time limit for the entire registration process, after which time the system will force you to log out and re-fill in all of your information!
Don't overlook this important step any longer. Upon completion of registration, the FDA will assign a unique registration number and send a confirmation mailer. This registration number is your product's passport to the U.S. market. In addition, if there is a new owner of the company, the original owner must deregister within 60 days and the new owner must re-register before beginning operations.
For Taiwanese manufacturers and cross-border brands planning to expand their international e-commerce business, FDA registration is not only a legal requirement to follow, but also a key step in building brand trust and ensuring smooth product clearance. Mastering this knowledge will make your cross-border journey smoother!
