What is GCC Certificate of Compliance?
The U.S. GCC Certificate of Conformity (General Certificate of Conformity) is a certification that a non-children's (general purpose) product complies with all applicable consumer product safety rules. It is issued by a manufacturer or importer under a reasonable testing program and indicates that the product complies with specific safety standards and regulations.
Products requiring GCC certification
Includes, but is not limited to: architectural glass materials, wearing apparel, mattresses, bunk beds, paint, carpeting, antennas, matchboxes, bicycles, ATV's, and utility lighters.
Difference between GCC and CPC
- GCC Certificates: For non-children's products, mainly for adult products.
- CPC Certificate: Children's products, designed or intended for children 12 years of age and under.
Information to be included in the GCC certificate
- Product identification.
- A description of the rules, prohibitions, standards, or ordinances to which it conforms.
- Information about the importer or domestic manufacturer who certified the conformity of the product.
- Product description, date and place of manufacture, date and place of product testing.
- Name of the testing organization, mailing address, telephone number and contact information.
