With the last compliance reminder still fresh in our minds, a large number of sellers have recently received another compliance request from Amazon on their backend.
A new policy recently implemented by Amazon has reached a large number of seller groups, and the two key points known at this stage are as follows:
For one thing, the new regulation has come into effect;
Secondly, sellers who are warned but fail to submit the required documents on time risk having a large number of their product Listings removed.
Amazon Releases New Button Battery Requirements
The announcement mentions that from April 18, 2024: Whenever selling consumer products containing button batteries or built-in such batteries on the Amazon platform, sellers are required to provide relevant proof of compliance, and if they fail to submit valid compliance documents on time, there is a risk that the relevant merchandise link will be removed from the system.
Consumer products containing button cell batteries include calculators, cameras, flameless electronic candles, illuminated clothing, footwear, festive decorations, hanging flashlights, musical greeting cards, remote controls and clocks and watches.
Following the release of this compliance update for these products, all sellers involved in the sale of these products have been notified by Amazon of the submission of the relevant qualifications to meet the new requirements.
II. How to ensure compliance
01
If the product comes with a button cell battery
1. A GCC certificate (a document stating that it has passed the UL 4200A standard test);
2. A UL4200A experimental test report (report approved in accordance with ISO17025; the report contains pictures of the products, which need to be proved to be the same as the products in the Listing);
3. A copy of the product packaging with barcode (with warning labels and information such as danger of inadvertent consumption).
02
If the product does not come with a button cell battery
1. Check the description in the listing carefully and delete or modify sensitive words that may cause misunderstanding;
2. File a complaint, stating the use of the product, the material, and explicitly declaring that it does not contain button cell batteries.
In the face of the Platform's increasingly stringent scrutiny of compliance, sellers must have an in-depth and precise grasp of the relevant laws and regulations and the Platform's policies to ensure that their business behavior is always within the scope of compliance.
In addition, sellers are required to maintain a high degree of vigilance on the status of their accounts and conduct regular self-audits and corrections to eliminate any behavior that may lead to penalties from the Platform. When receiving notification of compliance requirements from the Platform, sellers should respond quickly and complete the compliance tasks set by the Platform in a timely manner to ensure the stability and smoothness of store operations.
