CBP 7501, the entry summary document, is a core document that all Amazon sellers and cross-border e-commerce sellers must be familiar with. Today, we are going to analyze the key points of filling out this form for Taiwan cross-border sellers.
First, Form 7501 consists of three key components: the entry number, the type of entry, and the summary date. The entry number consists of the declarant's code, a seven-digit entry number, and a verification code, which is a unique identifier for the shipment. The entry type determines how your shipment will be processed by Customs, from consumer entry to warehouse pickup, and each type has a specific code.
The biggest headache is filling in the country of origin and manufacturer ID. Unexpectedly, many e-commerce entrepreneurs have fallen foul of this! The Country of Origin must use the ISO country code, and the Manufacturer ID needs to be constructed according to specific rules. Special note: Canadian origin goods need to use the province code instead of the country code "CA".
What's even more outrageous is that many cross-border brand owners don't realize that the format for filling out the visa number/certificate of conformity/export certificate in Column 33 is very strict, and it must include the year of export, ISO country of origin, and the unique number issued by the foreign government. This has a direct bearing on whether your goods can pass through customs smoothly!
For Amazon Global Store sellers, filling out this form correctly can make or break your shipment's entry into the U.S. market. Remember, even the smallest mistake can result in your shipment being detained or incurring additional costs.
