You would never guess that three copyright disputes involving over 100 copyrighted images have recently broken out in the cross-border e-commerce world! These cases are from YUMEI SHI, Tane Hannah Meets, and Elena Kolotusha, each of which has been granted a preliminary injunction.
As a cross-border seller in Taiwan, you need to know the history of these cases. Most shockingly, the YUMEI SHI case involves 31 copyrighted works, including more than 100 images of children's clothing and 18 illustrations. The seller, who sells children's clothing in the U.S., filed a lawsuit on April 1, 2025, and an injunction was granted on May 5th.
The case of artist Tane Hannah Meets is equally noteworthy. Her artistic style combines whimsical charm and refined aesthetics, and her works, ranging from watercolors to digital graphics, are loved by children and adults alike. Russian-born Elena Kolotusha, who now lives in Melbourne, Australia, is known for her delicate animal paintings and surreal still lifes.
