Sellers who often use Amazon FBA should pay attention! 2025 new rules for returning goods to the warehouse are revealed!
Sellers who regularly use Amazon FBA should pay attention! The 2025 Return Rules have been significantly updated, and mastering these details is crucial for cross-border e-commerce sellers. Effective management of the return process not only reduces losses, but also significantly improves inventory turnover and capital efficiency.
It usually takes between 3 to 12 weeks from the time of requesting a return to the time of completion, which is much longer than most sellers expect. What's more, this time varies significantly depending on factors such as geographic location, logistics and transportation efficiency, and special weather conditions. From the overseas warehouse to handle inventory, it takes at least 3 to 7 days to do processing and shipping, plus the time to ship in the FBA, the overall warehouse and then into the warehouse to about 45 days! In order to avoid affecting the subsequent sales program, it is recommended to plan ahead for overseas inventory replenishment or local warehousing.
Regarding the timing of unwinding, unless it is for the purpose of increasing storage capacity, unwinding operations in Q4 should be avoided. This is mainly because the peak season and bad weather will lengthen the processing time significantly. If a product is mislabeled or needs to be recalled, it is recommended to process it immediately to avoid negative reviews and account risks; while products with a slower sales rate should be deconsolidated 3 months before the sales season. Although the inventory will be empty immediately after the withdrawal, the IPI indicator will take 4~8 weeks to reflect, which is a detail that many sellers tend to overlook.
The return address requirements are also quite strict. Amazon requires that the address provided must be an actual address where the shipment can be received. Overseas addresses and local PO Box addresses are absolutely not accepted. More importantly, the recipient must be able to sign for the shipment within the specified delivery time, or else the package may be returned to Amazon, adding extra time and expense.
When the merchandise is returned to Taiwan from overseas warehouses, it needs to go through the process of import customs declaration. Sellers will need to provide complete product information and related documents, as well as estimate the cost of customs duties and value-added tax to avoid the cost of importing the merchandise. Once the merchandise is re-imported back to Taiwan, it may need to be repackaged or labeled to ensure that it meets the requirements for re-sale.
